Breaker bar
/bɹˈeɪkə bˈɑː/
/bɹˈeɪkɚ bˈɑːɹ/
Breaker bar
[NOUN]1
a long and rigid metal bar that is used in conjunction with socket wrenches or other tools to provide additional leverage for breaking stubborn or rusted bolts, nuts, or fasteners
Examples
1. I tried wrenches, I tried breaker bars.
2. They are 17 millimeters and so I just have my breaker bar right there with the little extension piece 17 millimeter attachment.
3. So as I’m trying to do that lower nut on the caliper where that ratchet is, right here at the breaker bar, I had to take the crowbar and pin it underneath the frame down in there and over the top of this joint right here, and kind of just press down on both of those at the same time to get the right leverage that I needed.
4. If you don’t have a breaker bar what you can do is take your wrench, put it on the top, so it’s kind of lining up against the tire back there as you can see.
